Is enough being done to protect the young girls - these men exploited girls as young as 11?

Unbelievable!

em, I was brought up in care during the 70s and 80s, nothing much has changed really since then apart from the closure of many homes. The children are not really cared for properly, they are allowed to run around with no supervision much of the time. It is no wonder they are seen as easy targets for these gangs. The exact same thing was going on back in the 80s but nobody listened or did anything about it when you tried to tell them.
20 years isn't enough, scum I hope they die in there.

The people who should of saved them and didn't, get off scot free? Police should be held to account.
the young people just seemed so all at sea, they were moved around constantly, from foster care to care home, to foster care, and so on, damaged and many beyond saving, because no one seems to care enough for them. One young girl was sold as a sex slave, the life of degradation and hopelessness was something i won't forget in a hurry. Sad people, sad programme, and not nearly enough done for these lost young.
sir.prize, do any of your links say that the defendants were anything other than Pakistani or of Pakistani descent? The point is being made that offenders are of that origin, and not from other Muslim countries
I lost count of the amount of different homes I lived in. Each primary school year was at a different school, sometimes more than one school in each year. I had 3 foster families, I was attacked in two of them by the foster parents own children and in one by my foster dad. In one of the council run homes I was in (age 11) I took my first overdose of 50 paracetamol it was that bad! It is very sad to know that it has not got any better for kids in the same situation that I was in.
what a sad indictment of care, non care more like.

The judge said the gang, all of whom were of Pakistani or north African origin, had targeted vulnerable girls, and said on occasions "the depravity was extreme".
Another sad case, the latest among many recently.

But we can't lock up every man in Britain, just to make sure that there a there aren't any left to abuse 12 year old girls. The parents of these children need to accept some responsibility at least. How did an 11 year old girl get into a position to be abused in the first place ? If these little girls were in care, how and why did the Social Services allow them the opportunity to get involved with these beasts.

We have seen in recent cases how responsible adults appear on the TV after the court case is over and say " well, what can you do ? "

Well, they start looking after children properly for a start.
Usual suspects.
they are often in care, which as already pointed out is no care, even at that age. if you can do a catch up i player on the programme i posted on, it gives a clear enough picture of what is happening in our non care society, not just parents to blame, social services, the care homes who let them come and go at any time of day or night, add in the police who are not picking them up when they go walkabout.
As usual, the racial angle has raised its ugly head in this discussion, just as it has in previous cases of this type.

Saville, Glitter, Hall, and others still be tried and convicted managed to abuse children with gay abandon, without being black, or Muslim. Is anybody suggesting that there is a white issue at stake here ?

They did all have one thing in common with the ones convicted today, and that is they were all men. That is all.

So, can we stop mentioning race or religion at every opportunity please ?
it just isn't that simple, watch the programme, it is not so much an eye opener, but some of the parents had children put in care because they were not able to look after them, through divorce, child showing bad behaviour,
there are a million and one reasons, and not always the parents fault.
why not, they are Muslims by and large and that seems to have played a part in the grooming, sexual abuse of these vulnerable young girls. Like the various cases featured in recent days, they are mostly gangs of Pakistani origin men, Muslims all.
Ah but em, the truth seems to offend !.
we know that white men can be abusers, paedophiles, no one questions that, and i say white, what is wrong with that.
Question Author
No doubt there have been white offenders jailed for sex offences. But in the last year there have been seven gangs jailed, each with 7-9 men of Pakistani or North African origin. That is probably approaching 60 non-whites.

Anyone have details of numbers of 'white' gangs? Religion immaterial!

-- answer removed --
don't know, but what is disturbing is the denial by the police over time, due to racial sensitivities, they have admitted as much, and perhaps that is why things are finally changing.
