This chap appears to be somewhat annoyed that he has been given a life time ban from teaching. But what other penalty would be appropriate for a man whose actions were described by the Department of Education as "violent, threatening and targeted at young children."

He now has a new job away from teaching... // Adam Walker has been appointed as Staff Manager for the British National Party's centrally paid staff and for the staff of MEPs Nick Griffin and Andrew Brons, it has been announced. // (he is being paid by the Euro taxpayer). Maybe come next years Euro Elections, he fears for his future job prospects? The incident...

Just looked up the press report of the original incident, and he WAS convicted of carrying a knife. Wonder why he is not mentioning that now?

// He was sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, after he admitted dangerous driving and possessing a bladed instrument. //

CRBs or DBSs have to be renewed every 3 years at least enhanced ones do, so anyone who has one and commits a crime will only last 3 years in the job at most. Plus you are under obligation to report it immediately if you get a new conviction and would be prosecuted and possibly imprisoned for non disclosure.
zac, did you actually read that NI link.

one snippet

TUV leader Jim Allister has criticised the Department of Education after it emerged officials do not keep a record of working teachers who have served jail terms.
Yep....did I miss something?
that it's obvious to me that teachers are not exempt from being criminals, past or present, and that whatever criminal conviction they have, may not blight their present or future careers.
so the BNP got a lifetime ban, that's good, now for some of the others still working in teaching.
that should be the BNP teacher, never mind
In your 8:28 post you mentioned teachers who have a criminal record for sex crimes against children. Your link doesn't mention this specific (or any specific) crime.
That's still not sexual abuse of children as your previous claim. You appear to be moving the goalposts.
no i am not, i am just stating that teachers are not angels, that there are teachers who have gone from one to school to the other abusing children along the way, that with better checks that wouldn't have happened. and besides why would any school governing body put a teacher or assistant back in the profession who has viewed indecent images of children, that doesn't make sense.
this is about the BNP guy, he has gone and good riddance.

A teacher's Previous convictions should be found on a CRB check. If the crimes occur after they are employed, then the teacher should have to notify their employer. If the crimes involve a court appearance, then they are likely to be found out anyway. There are other instances of teachers being banned with their criminality is discovered.

// Nicola Meredith concealed a total of 13 offences while working at the International School and Community College in Tile Cross, including drink driving and an assault on a police constable in which she bit the officer twice.

Other offences, committed over a seven-year period, included two convictions for driving whilst disqualified, being drunk and disorderly and using an iron bar to cause GBP5,000-worth of damage to a car.

The 29-year-old English teacher was suspended from her post at the International School in March two years ago and was sacked following a disciplinary hearing in March this year.

International School head teacher Mark Garside said Miss Meredith had a clean criminal record when she joined the school in 2004 and was "immediately suspended" when her convictions came to light.

The teacher has now been suspended from the classroom for two years after being found guilty of unacceptable professional conduct at a General Teaching Council hearing in Birmingham. //
"i am suggesting that there are plenty of evidence that people who have committed crimes, from what would be perceived as low level, to sexual abuse of children are still in mainstream schools"

You still haven't provided any evidence of your allegations, so have now widened the scope.
this is more recent, an ongoing investigations.
like the priesthood, the police, they cover their backs.

I hope you do not think I am nit picking em10, but you keep coming out with statements and offering no evidence. You obviously believe them to be true but others need convincing.

// there are teachers who have gone from one to school to the other abusing children along the way, that with better checks that wouldn't have happened. //

Unless there have been complaints about a teacher, checks are not going to uncover anything. If the teacher has been found to be abusing children at one school, are you really suggesting his next school would not be informed?

I see you have none changed the goalposts again and are now on about the priesthood.
i am, but quite honestly i have stuff to do, so talk amongst yourselves.
What a cop out.
you think so, do you have all day to sit here, because i generally don't.
