Helmand's Top Female Police Officer Shot Dead
Once the international community leaves, what hope is there for women? Should we, as Heather Barr, Afghanistan researcher for Human Rights Watch says, do more to ensure women's rights are protected - and if so, what?

// Gromit sadly has shown himself by any number of posts and comments to be somewhat anti Zionist //
Em10. Can I explain why I posted my recent comment.
- An ABer posted about a place was 'swarming with Poles'.
- The second time he wrote it, I called it racist.
- I was immediately reprimanded for objecting to the term and calling it out by Naomi amongst others.
- So on one of Naomi's questions I posted Westminster was swarming with Jews.
- this was instantly objected to, in stark contrast to what happened when the term was used against Poles.
- The post was banned.
Which proved a point for me.

I am not ant-zionist. I am not religious and think all the Abrhamic religions are nonsense. But when one is picked on, for example muslims for having their own religious courts, I will point out there have jews have been doing the same in England for a century. That is not anti zionist, that is comparing and contrasting.
I have a lot of problems with the State of Israel's foreign policy. In many ways it is unjust, cruel and some instances, it is illegal. When Israel does anything that I dislike, I will post about it. That is not anti-Israel or anti-zionist.

Jolly good – but I would add that I think the ‘reprimand’ you mentioned that allegedly came from me might have been when I questioned why at the slightest provocation charges of racism are raised, or words to that effect - but I’ve forgotten which thread it was on, and I can’t be bothered to look. If I'm not mistaken my input there was clearly an observation – not a complaint.
i have long wondered why we need Jewish or Muslim courts, surely to have law for all those should be shut down. They operate outside mainstream law, after all if a woman marries in Sharia law, then she has no rights in marriage at least under UK law, so is not protected..
as to Melanie Phillips, i believe that she puts forward views some don't like, well so do many, on here and in elsewhere, that as they say is the basis of free speech.

Em10,
I have no recollection of calling Melanie Phillips a Zionist. There are 14 threads on AB and I looked at everyone and could not find a quote from me to that effect, perhaps it was someone else. Even if I did, I am not sure it is derogitory. It would depend on the context, but calling someone a zionist is the equivalent of calling someone an Islamist. More a description than a slur.
