He's had time to file an appeal. It appears that he is resigned to his fate. Of course, his wife and children here are not leaving.

"BBC news correspondent Jon Brain said: "He still has the option to seek a judicial review. Even at this 11th hour, he could announce that he's going to make another appeal and extend this process still further.

"But it does appear that he's accepted the latest developments, and should be on his way to Jordan in the early hours of the morning."

Good! Shame his family aren't going with him.
so it is.
Who will ABers Now Find to post about with monotonous regularity?
anything we wish, as long as it's within the rules.
You, Gromit, is the answer to your question - lol
Choudry looks a likely replacement
no as he was born here... but he would be on a plane if i had my way...
such a shame they didn't actually manage to charge him with anything over the years. So they'll just have to deport him for being dislikeable.
Question Author
Sorry, Gromit, I did update the thread you posted about Qatada, back in May but it did not show up in the Latest Post window :)
he is wanted, they can have him
not for being dislikeable. more that he has been a hate preacher, has made a fool of our so called justice system, played it like a violin, and now he can go, plane ready one hopes.
Hope he is found guilty otherwise he might be back! If he does go, at least his large amount of "free everything" can go back into the system for someone more deserving.
European court of h rights have wasted our money and time and out people's lives at risk
He should have been sent years ago
hate speech is illegal, em. Why not charge him?
i am not in the legal profession, nor the police, however there are those who have been dealing with this man for years, and must know what he has been doing, capable of, lets not quibble.
yes, let's quibble. "There must be people who know what he's capable of" isn't even close to being a crime. We have courts to decide this sort of thing. Why haven't they been used? Do we have the rule of law or not?

Abu Qatada's writings and speeches have been critically assessed by a contemporary Salafi Muslim scholar from Algeria, Shaykh 'Abdul-Malik ar-Ramadani al-Jaza'iri, in the book Takhlis al-'Ibad min Wahshiyyat Ab'il-Qataad aladhi yu'du ila Qatli'n-Nisa wa Awlad [Liberating the Servants from the Barbarism of the Father of Thorns Who Propagates the Killing of Women and Children] (Jeddah: Maktabah Asalah al-Athariyyah, 2001 CE/1422 AH).[16]

The Guardian Newspaper reported that in 1995 Qatada issued a fatwa justifying the killing of Muslims who renounce their faith, and of their families.[17] In 1999 he advocated the killing of Jews and praised attacks on Americans.[17]
