i don't even think the *specific* subject matter was what turned people against you.
it was your tone of voice: sarcasm, condescension and ridicule rarely go down well in what is after all, a community of ABers. (certainly not when you ridicule someone's exposed feelings.)
many people feel - rightly - safe in the AB environment that while heated arguments may well be held, animosity and nastiness will be kept at a minimum.
it's not about not having an opinion; it's about expressing it in a sensitive, tactful, "adult" (your word not mine) way.
sarcasm and vitriol may work well in certain other threads, but probably not one concerning the brutal murder of babies.
purely my thoughts on the matter. i'm sure i'll be excused for having an opinion.
Here Here Trillipse.
I know that bad things happen to adults, children, animals etc all the time but commenting as a relatively new mother (my son is almost one) I am always more repulsed (rightly or wrongly) by crimes against babies and children then I am by crimes against adults. I suspect this is an opinion shared by a lot of people.
I am a firm believer in "what goes around comes around" so the perpetrator(s) of this hideous act will be made to suffer - if not in this life then certainly in the next.
This leads me to think that the world has never been any better. This happened 15 years ago. People go on about how things have got worse. No they havn't it's just we hear more about it these days.
It's aweful and dispicable. I heard a baby screaming at the hospital a few days ago and thought if a baby screams like that when its in pain, how can anybody harm it intetionaly. The mind just boggles at the horror that some people can commit.
It makes weep it really does.
God bless little Lara.
