Do Fire Blankets Have A 'shelf Life'?
4 Answers
Earlier today I was at the local Silver Threads hall to see a committee member, and had to wait while a commercial 'fire officer' was doing what appeared to be an annual check of fire extinguishers and other fire related items.
He came out of the kitchen with a Fire Blanket that had never been used, and told the committee member that Fire Blankets only had a life of six to seven years. He advised her to buy another one because that's how long it had been in the kitchen. In fact he said he could supply a new one for around £25.00.
Does anyone know if it is the case that Fire Blankets have a limited 'shelf life? Something I'd never thought of before. My own one at home must be at least fifteen years old.
