The obvious answer, if you are not in a hurry, is to go by ship and boycott the airlines altogether.
I would never ever have enough money to pay for the fare.

I agree that if someone is fat (like me) then they should have to pay an extra charge or pay for larger seats that can accommodate them.

Wait until all the anti-fatties see your thread :-)
Spoonboy - good idea. And they throw in eye candy in the form of sailors.
I'm kinda on the fence. It is a bit unfair that my luggage has to weigh the same as the person 10 stone heavier than me.
you're lucky - if I sat on the fence it would collapse
I'm all for a good sailor Wolfy!

Drunken, or otherwise, spoonboy?
lol Wolfe...

I'm just unsure how they are going to check it.
Doesn't matter Boxtops, if there is the V pill around.
If you've ever sat next to a really obese person on a plane then I think you may agree. I flew to Cuba, the person in the aisle seat was massive. I have never been so glad to get off a plane. I may add she never stopped eating during the whole flight.
I weight less naked, so I'm not putting my clothes on for anyone :)
So will you be given a seat to match your weight...or am I being silly?

Some US airlines give large people 2 seats, yes. The man sitting across from OH on our last flight had an extension to the extension on his lap belt....
Spoonboy - I think that there are enough sailors for both of us to cope with. What about firemen? It is nice to see that it isn't just us girls who appreciate a man in uniform. :-)
Maybe just an extra charge for those that need two seats. Or weigh passenger and luggage together and charge accordingly!
Samoans are quite bulky. They used to weigh you and your luggage together, though it didn't affect the price - more to do with not seating all the fatties and their suitcases on the same side of the plane. I think.
Arwyn, best answer right there :)

save having to take off your shoes and your belt, arwyn.
I recently flew and bought a 'comfort seat' because I needed the extra room and I hate sitting next to anyone, and although I paid for this extra seat, people kept trying to sit next to me and a few actually got quite gobby with me even going as far as to comment on my size!!

I may be fat but at least I have manners! Oh and Jezza I never ate anything on my flight!
