Mr Cameron promised religious organisations a "quadruple lock" to ensure they would not be compelled to act contrary to their faith's doctrine (or in the case of the CofE, contrary to Canon Law).

Several contributors on AB argued it would never happen: after all, who'd want to be married by an organisation that doesn't want you?

Yet here comes the first legal challenge, before the ink is even dry on the legislation.

What's the chances of this succeeding and turning Mr Cameron's promises to the church into so much dust?

The word is bandied about so much it is used to insult one - I thought it originated from the words By God) I have been called a bigot for having an opinion - did not bother me - what does bother me is that a minority group can overide the majority on an issue that involves the Church of England. I cannot see any mosque in the world allowing gay marriage.

I guess because their own church will not be allowed, by Statute, to actually marry them........which is what they desire.

JTH no disrespect, I desire a lot of things but cannot get them - same principle should apply to this couple. Why not hold their marriage in a castle or hotel anywhere they want as long as it is not a church, mosque etc. I think because they are a high profile couple they have elected to carry the banner.

Brenden - They don't want to get married anywhere other than in a Church, in the sight of the God in which they both believe.

As I've already stated, I'm baffled as to why they should want to get married inside (both literally and figuratively) an institution which does NOT accept their way of life.
