Does it only apply to us minnows? Supermarkets are still making huge profits. One Chairman recently said that the days of cheap products are over. The banks always seem to announce profits in the billions. Utility companys' continue to make massive profits and the price of petrol is absolutely extortionate. You can buy a gallon in the U.S. for the same price as a litre in the UK. But there's a recession and we're all going to have to pay up and boost these pofits even more. Maybe these company's think they aren't making enough so we are going to continue to pour more money in their coffers.

You don't seem to have a very firm grasp of economics.
Claion...there is no recession....the last quarter showed a rise ( very small) in GDP.....so.....no recession.

There's a disgusting ever widening gap between the 'haves' and the 'have nots' but I'm not sure its all Cameron's fault.
Does 'what' not count towards the economy?

And what do you think happens to these companies profits?
Clarion/Svejk.....during the 10 years of the last Labour Government, the GP's salary doubled and their work load was reduced.

Wouldn't you like some of that?

Then, get yourself a medical degree and vote Labour.

and that is why you can't get a doctors appointment for weeks, and that you end up in A&E as it's quicker. I spent 5 hours trying to get some advice from the new 111 service, thank you and goodbye.
it's not happening...

more than one, two, three reasons why we have a recession. But it doesn't help when governments go out and spend, spend, spend what we don't have... nor does it help when people go out and spend what they don't have, credit card debt, live now, pay later, both government and people need to see that you simply can't live like that. Because you never know what is around the corner, financially speaking, and if you hit a problem, ie redundancy, ill health and have no provision, you can end up in lots of doo doo.

I was thinking more of ceo's getting 3,000x times the salary of workers. I've no answers.
I couldn't be a doctor(if I was clever enough) with my fat fingers and lack of empathy.
the biggest knock on effect is thus, you have little or no money, so can't spend much or anything, so shops, business suffers, they go bust, throwing people out of work, so the wheels of the bus go round and round.
Svejk....LOL

\\\\\I couldn't be a doctor(if I was clever enough) with my fat fingers and lack of empathy.\\\\

You don't have to be clever and you only need to "pretend" you have empathy.
Fat fingers are essential, to hold you £20 notes whilst you count your salary.
Have you been paying over £3 a litre for petrol, Clarion?
(US price £2.40ish / US gallon = £3ish per Imp. gallon).
Exaggerating facts to support an argument...not good!
Today's papers are talking about energy prices going up soon, despite their huge profits, so the average energy bill will be £1450 p.a Apparently when it reaches £1500 p.a., that's a tipping point after which many more customers will be in crisis and can't afford to heat and cook. That sounds like recession to me (blame the energy companies, though)
