It seems that most group such as the EDL has an opposition group, in this case the Anti Fascist group.

Bearing this in mind, is there a place for a 'Straight Pride March' to oppose the 'Gay Pride March'?

What's your feelings on this AOG.

Doesn't seem to be much enthusiasm for such a march here, looking at the responses.

Quite an odd bunch.

However, if minorities are paid a lot of attention and receive continual press then you will get folk who think that the minority have taken over. It's simply their cack-handed way of saying 'there are others too'
"Do you know the ways that homosexuals have more rights than straight people?"

Yes, sp. They have the right to be joined in a Civil Partnership. Straight couples do not. With the impending introduction of homosexual marriage ceremonies (with no concomitant plans for access to Civil Partnerships for straight couples) Gay people will have two methods of union whilst straight people remain with just the one.
odd then that the right to a civil partnership does not seem to be among their demands. They just want the right to dress ridiculously, which as far as I can see they already have.
Personally I think gay pride does more harm than good in the push for equality nowadays.
I don't see the point of being proud to be normal. It's just a random chance thing anyway. We'll be having a club foot pride march next. I blame the insecure folk who started all this nonsense.
// I blame the insecure folk who started all this nonsense. //

Who are the insecure folk?
I reserve the right to wear outrageuous clothes, mince when I walk, arrange scatter cushions, drink beer, like football and rugby and toy dogs dressed in cutesy clothes and cuddle my cat on the sofa at night whilst watching The Profesionals, The Godfather in between reading Nuts and Loaded.

I'm just not sure which march to join....
lol @ jno :-)
I like that....

"In Canada there's not a lot of redheads, and for me as a really ridiculously gay kid, having red hair only heightened my sense of isolation because nobody looked like me, nobody lisped like me or burnt under the sun like I did."
Whats there to be proud about being homosexual !?
Will they be as happy, that's my question?!
I agree with NJ - straight people should be able to have a civil partnership as well, if they want one. Peter Tatchell campaigns for it!

And I find it odd that it most conversations about homosexuality, almost always the comment goes that it is abnormal, that heterosexuality is the norm - so if this is the case, why on earth- or more appropriately, what on earth is there to raise consciousness -wise?

I don't think we should be in the business of stopping them, if thats what they want to do, but you really do have to question the rationale behind the whole idea.
Can a married person have a civil partnership at the same time? after all it isn't exactly bigamy is it?
"And I find it odd that it most conversations about homosexuality, almost always the comment goes that it is abnormal, that heterosexuality is the norm "

none of us will likely be around to see what evolution has in store and which it favours for the continuation of the human species

unless of course that is you think that Darwins theory is baloney
NJ, what are the pros and cons of civil partnership and gay marriage ? When is one preferable to the other ?
I don't really know the difference to be honest, Fred. That's why I could not understand the campaign for gay marriages. Straight people had their marriages, gay people had their civil partnerships. Both, it seemed were equivalent and the different names recognised the different type of union. (For whatever either group would like to believe, the two types of people are different).

Now, of course, gay people can choose either type of union whilst straight people cannot. And that's not really fair.
Those that feel the need to march and imply, "look at me, I'm ok". ummmm
