Do they infer women are there for the taking? I'm all for the rights of women. I think this is going too far. Have the protesting women ever looked at the mag that shows naked men. Can't remember it's name. So what about the men's rights. Have you heard them protest? Get a life for F'S sake.
Interesting that you put "the mag that shows naked men" which suggests that there is only one, as opposed to the multitude of lad's mags. And is that mag readily available in newsagents? It's not something I've ever looked for so, quite simply, don't know whether it is on the shelves or not.
I can't say they've ever bothered me and if you're a thick but good-looking girl it's a way to make a living.
I bought the first Cosmopolitan which had a nude centrefold, I think it was Burt Reynolds, which was quite nice.
Apparently, there have been many attempts to launch these magazines for women but go bankrupt fairly quickly. I don't honestly think it gives the right impression to my sons and daughters. Especially when it is so cheap, it's in daily papers for anyone and everyone. I think it should be adults only. I mentioned this recently on a breast-feeding debate. I just think this mindset doesn't help some situations and is very old-fashioned.
I think the one I saw was called something like Stein. It had many naked men. One of them had his manhood tied in a knot. What's the difference for christ sake. I'm all for women, I am one, yet they are going too far. I want equality not supremacy. Women's lib going too far.
Lads mags don't show nudes; lingerie, swimsuits, maybe a little 'implied' nudity perhaps but if you want bums and boobs then it's the proper 'adult' mags you'll have to buy.
There is often more naked female flesh in Cosmo than, say, FHM.
Personally I could not care less. I think the main objection is not so much the nudity as the objectifying of women, feeding into some men's fantasies of what women should be, or for that matter, young women feeling inadequate about their bodies because the pin ups (for want of a better expression) are airbrushed to a degree of perfection which is unobtainable in reality. However the same could be said of fashion magazines which air brush the models in their pages
There was a bit of a fuss here when the lads mags were put on the same level as the kids comics - they got moved. I'm not bothered by it but when my kids start asking questions about it I do wonder what I will say. It's a bit in your face but then again it's nothing compared to the Internet.
Precisely, though I do think she has aged rather well - she may have had some "work" done - though I don't think so.
Women's magazines do give a false impression about women's looks and we'll never get young women to feel better about themselves until they stop touching up the fashion photos
