Considerations are afoot that could mean all cars would have their speed limited automatically depending on the speed limit in force.

See how long it takes one truck to pass another since they were limited to 85 kph. And see the queue of cars all trying to get into the outside lane to overtake them.
It'll just take a whole lot longer to pass, and that can be very dangerous on some roads - I give you the single carriageway sections of the A9 as an example.
I'd suggest it's kite flying and will be quietly forgotten.

jno ...
The penalty for breaking the speed limit is currently a fine and points.
The penalty would become injury and death.
You seem to be saying that bikers who break the speed limit deserve what they get ... even if that is being killed.
Actually, maybe the Government thinks that bikers are expendable. Encourage them to use small, economical, fuel efficient two wheeled transport ... and then kill them.

speed is not the cause of most accidents anyway. Speed seems to have become the target and the holy grail to solve all motoring ills. If the idea is road safety then there are huge areas of indemic bad driving to address first. Eg those eejits doing 50 on the motorway forcing all the trucks into the middle lane to get past. That is much more dangerouse that someone doing 85. They should have a minimum limit too.
