I think the trouble here is that he went on hunger strike last week or the week before and the Prison authorities have got a bit scared about what to do with him. By my definition, he is clearly insane, so a secure mental hospital would seem the right place for him.
Not sure how easy it is to be in a place like Ashworth though Sandy...I don't think I would like to share the same postcode with Ian Brady ! What if our Xmas cards got mixed up !
By the way, what a refreshingly honest quote from the Chief Constable of Greater Manchester...." I couldn't give a toss about Mr Cregan"
I'm not sure if Cregan has anybody on his side, do-gooders or not.
He reminds me of a man near where I live in South Wales that is serving life for 4 murders committed in 1999. Its fairly obvious to everybody in the vicinity, including myself, that he may be a victim of a miscarriage of justice. But he was such an ar*****e, that we are just glad he has been put away somewhere where he can't create any more mayhem.
