I know the Royal Mail is the acknowledged as the first National Postal service in the world, but even I didn't realise it has been going THIS long ----- No wonder the mail is getting delivered later in the day, must be revving up the zimmer frame/wheelchair etc for the letters, as they've been in waiting for such an age.

Especially, Britain's coalition government has confirmed plans to privatize the country's 500-year-old Royal Mail this fall, a move opposed by postal unions and condemned by the opposition as a "fire sale" of a lucrative state asset.

I spy a journalist who uses Wikipedia! "The Royal Mail can trace its history back to 1516, when Henry VIII established a "Master of the Posts", a post which in 1710 was renamed as "Postmaster General"" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Mail

I spy a journalist waiting to write HIS first "real" story, but can read an "authoritative" website at 1st googling?
I posted a small parcel to Scotland and a card to Cornwall at 4pm Thursday, both arrived before 10am next day at their destination, no complaints there, except 60p for a stamp, I needed a stiff drink when I came out of the PO!
