No one is asking Ryan to go on a training course, and it’s disingenuous to suggest otherwise simply because you don’t like the Tories. At the age of 20 he is now classed as an adult, and therefore moves into a different category. I doubt that system has changed since this government came into office. The spokesman for the DWP said:
"Disabled adults often have different support needs to children, and this is reflected in the different benefits available to people when they reach adulthood.
"Employment and support allowance is a benefit for adults who are too ill or disabled to work. To apply for it, someone just needs to fill out a form and provide some medical evidence.
"If we are given all the information we need to enable us to make a decision, there is often no need for a face to face assessment."
Granted, communication between HMRC, who deal with children’s benefits, and the DWP who deal with adult benefits, could be better, but I suspect that’s nothing new. To expedite the transition his mother needs to stop complaining and spend her time more productively by providing the information requested immediately. Had she dealt with it earlier, perhaps the wait they are now experiencing could have been avoided.
