A reliable indicator for Governments wasting our money:

- IT Project -
Can't tag it on the coalition per se, but all governments struggle with IT. Currently the biggest problem with Universal Credit, for example, is that the IT system isn't working. Can't blame Labour specifically for a problem that is endemic to all governments.
// Try tagging this one on the coalition Gromit. /

Would I do that?

No this fiasco was commission by the last Labour Government, and its failure is largely down to their poor specification and management of the project.

What I can pin on the Coalition though, is that the US company that failed so miserably at delivering this project has been rewarded for their failure with nearly £1.1billion of NHS projects by the Coalition. So rather than learning from Labour's mistakes, they are continuing to add to them.

// The NHS will spend an additional £1.1 billion on CSC software and services as part of the much-maligned National Programme for IT (NPfIT), meaning the IT supplier will receive £2.2 billion for a project that was canned last year. //
The Universal Credit IT system is currently at great risk of failure and there is possibly a cost of 160m to that failure plus there was the CSA IT mess in the 90s, so while not defending Labour for the NHS IT mess/cost, as others have said it seems to be something that no governments do well.
