I am all for the idea put forward by Osborne, work for benefits. We are all in this together, how about making the Mps work for their expenses and benefits.
I've not understood this properly, they say work for your dole, and they've also said sign on everyday, how can you do both? I've no objection to either as long as paid jobs are not going to be sacrificed for it and that help with fares to get to the dole office are forthcoming.
Well, by default they are working for expenses, we may not like the amount but that is a different story. Benefits are also a perk of the job, so a job means working.
Osborne's idea is ok tro start, but does need tweaking. But I'm sure it will change by the time it hits the actual recipients.
Fares are not required. Walk or cycle to the dole office like I have to to get to work. After all they have got all day to do it. (Unless they are hot footing back for their paid job on a site or something)
Agree with your other point, although most of those jobs we import foreigners o, so not perhaps so much of a problem.
I don't have a problem with MPs getting paid. The vast majority of them work very hard and should be paid commensurately.
I also don't have a problem with people who have been on the dole for years being forced to get off their backsides and look for work. Immigrants to Britain in recent years have shown that there is work to be had if you look, so there isn't any reason why our unemployed shouldn't be working as well. If they need help and encouragement, then lets provide it. But we can't go on spending eye watering amounts of money for them to sit at home and watch daytime TV. Work or starve !
When they come up with the sort of garbage like not paying for work so they can keep it to be done unwaged by welfare claimants, or push to discriminate against non-married folk by giving tax money to those who are married, or want to allow kids to vote, or want to relieve parents of their basic responsibilities by letting taxpayer buy the kids dinner, then it's clear the very last thing I want MPs to do is work. I'd rather they were paid to be on permanent leave.
It will be a big boost for industry if everyone is on the dole and working for free. I am looking forward to a hefty reduction in my Council Tax when street cleaning and elderly care are done for nothing as well.
