David Cameron Doesn't Know The Price Of A Value Loaf
Do you? I don't, does this put him out of touch with the people? We use a lot of milk but I'm not even sure what it costs, it just goes in the trolley as an essential item

Actually, myou are correct, and make a good point.
None of us knows how much David C is actually worth, except from the speculation of the sensation seeking Press.
So how can we say he is that much out of touch? We are basing that opinion on what Goldstandard correctly describes as "unknown figures"

Point to consider ...
Would it be weird, and rather awful, if DC bought value bread?
Let's assume he has a lot of money.
So he can buy bread for 20p
Or he can buy bread for £2.00
Wouldn't it be hypocritical if he greedily hogged all his money, and bought 20p bread?
He talks about getting the Economy back on its feet. So he has a moral duty to put as much of his money as possible back into circulation.
If rich people buy cheap bread, the poor will stay poor, and the rich will stay rich.
DC should be proud to say ... I never buy anything cheaply. I plough my money back into the Economy, to help boost the incomes of people who are less well off. Rich people should all do the same, and buy the most expensive products, otherwise they all end up like Ebenezer Scrooge.

This is a silly game and an old one.
Press ask politicians how much something like the price of a bottle of milk is and portray them as out of touch if they don't know.
Bit surprised if they caught DC out with this - I thought most politicians these days had that drummed into them as part of their basic PR training

Good point JJ. How come Cameron hasn't done his patriotic bit to support the British boatbuilding industry and bought his own yacht yet?
Which raises the classic question: if you give the rich a tax cut, do they go and spend it (like the poor would tend to do) or do they just stick the extra on top of their existing hoard and carry on as is nothing had happened?

I just stick the extra on top of the existing hoard and carry on as is nothing had happened but JoggerJayne spends hers :)

Don't know, Hypognosis
But such a high proportion of the nations money has ended up in the hands of the rich, mother have a duty so spend furiously, and give it back to everyone else.
DC buying a yacht would give money to boat builders, carpenters, carpet makers, furniture makers, painters, glue factories, engineers, metal workers, bath and shower makers, glass makers, kitchen equipment makers, etc, etc, etc.
Actually, I think if DC wanted to show his real support for the people, then he jolly well WOULD buy a yacht.

You know what? Cameron is probably far more like the common man than we give him credit.
If you asked 100 forty six year old men who were the CEOs of large companies, how much a pint of milk was...I suspect the majority would not know to the penny, but they would be able to guess within about 20p.
I myself have no idea how much a pint of milk costs, because I buy those big jugs (not the very big ones...the middle sized ones).
And why does all semi skimmed milk, no matter where you get it from, have a green coloured label?
