Maybe if his police force wasn't so corrupt and his army not full of potheads they might have made a decent fist of it themsleves and met NATO halfway.

I couldn't agree more, Chill.
A lot of mistakes were made. Resulting in a lot of dead people who were not Taliban/al qaeda. He has a point.

that seems about right: Nato haven't much to show for their years there. They might have had, had they not decided to go rushing into Iraq at the same time.

Apparently this has been Britain's longest war since Napoleon.
Can anyone remind me what the afghans actually did to deserve the aggression foisted upon them?
What were they doing at the time.
$100,000 dollars was paid to one of the 9/11 bombers before they struck...by Pakistan.
Where was Osama Found?...Pakistan.
Where was Malala shot?...Pakistan.
Where are most forced marriages?...Pakistan
If you were an Afghani, how would you react to the bombing of your families and neighbours?
yes ungrateful barsteward, yes there have been c0ckups, would they prefer to return to Taliban barbarity?
I agree chilly....Perhaps this privileged chap should be careful of throwing stones, while he resides in such a glass house.

Thank you for your links Chill. They confirm everything Khazi was complaining about.
I wonder will his retirement be passed in a lakeside villa in Switzerland or will he go and see out the evening of his days somewhere in the USA?
i am not sure how anyone can give clear cut security, no one can, we have seen it here in UK, no where is truly safe from terrorist activity, if they want to send in someone to blow you and i to bit, it isn't that hard, just wear a backpack, look like any tourist and blend right in and away you go.
the man wants his cake and eat it,
as long as he doesn't come here, that would be the last thing we need
