sounds like basically a European problem if the new world producers are increasing output. Prices are already high for wine from these countries because of the distances involved but they won't necessarily get any higher as they compete among themselves for the international market. But you'll presumably be paying more and more for European wines as they produce less and less of it.
I did a panic buy at the weekend of a crate of Bordolino from Lidl (£4.25 a bottle).
Asda usually do a nice Agentinian Melbec on offer at Christmas around the £4 mark, so I shall be looking for some of that.
And you can usually get some Chateau Neuf du Pape at half price before Christmas.
