Where did you find that out, Zeuhl? As far as I know Mr Kebede’s immigration status prevents him from applying for a student loan. Apart from that, even if he was eligible the course he intends to take does not seem to fit the criteria laid down for student loans. /how did he get here in the first place, and when discovered why wasn't he thrown out straight away?/
Because he wasn't 'discovered' as you so prejudicially assume AOG
His father brought him and his brother here in 2004 and claimed asylum - the claim was rejected
He wasn't 'thrown out' because he was only 12 years old and was abandoned by his family
Perhaps that wouldn't have stopped you
/the Daily Mail, without them we would not hear cases such as this, can't see the any report on this in the Guardian. /
Really?
It was in The Telegraph and on Huffington and on BBC Radio 4

I take strong objection to claims that I 'clearly hate the Royals'. (@emmie)
As is the tradition in AB threads I am obliged to resort to the worn out phrase "where, exactly, did I actually say that?"
I made what I thought was a neutral observation, that about a million pounds had been spent training a particular personage and that (I think) we're getting about 2 years' service out of him.
I asked "is that good value?" and have not been graced with an answer.
Having previously expressed my dismay and envy about such preferential treatment being dished out to Mr Kebede I don't see how it can be fatuous to show that parallel, aviation-related, examples of profligacy with public funds exist.
What have I done for my country? Nothing beyond the ordinary. Besides attacking the character of the debater, instead of countering their argument is what ad hominem is all about.
