Does anyone know why the above takeaway on Longford/Foleshill Road is closed at the moment?

Well,

I suppose it's News somewhere...
Maybe a lack of sugar and spice in Coventry?

Surely they're overloaded with drudgery and banality....?
^
'Drudgery & Banality' - that's a great name for a takeaway chill

what would they serve?

Something boiled and tasteless...
Once saw one in Manchester called Argy Bhaji.
have you tried phoning them (assuming there might be someone in a back room)? 024 7668 7174
Excellent!

even funnier if it was actually run by Argentinians

(curry/manchester - sigh - memories of The Plaza Cafe)
It was somewhere near the Apollo, had been to see The League of Gentlemen stage show.
Don't know my bearings in Manchester too well I'm afraid.
Now you've made me hungry!

Off home for dinner

TTFN
Perhaps we should send someone to Coventry to find out......
Nominations?
I'll go as long as there's no naked lady on horseback parading about .was she the lady gaga of her day
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but restaurants are normally closed for
"redecoration"....ie they have had the pest controllers in !
I watched News at Ten and there was nothing on there about it being closed.

The Plaza in Manchester was indeed near the Apollo. It was actually African rather than Asian like most of the ones on Rusholme's Curry Mile. They used to do a 'suicide' curry which was free if you ate it all, but was very very hot.
A fairly common cause is raids by immigration officers or whatever they are.
a lot of these restaurants use their business to employ illegals, its fairly common for them to move staff around after a few months to another location to try and avoid being caught.

Two restaurants that I used regularly changed chefs and other staff extremely regularly and one is now closed permamnently for exactly the reasons i've stated.

A local kebab shop has closed and re-opened around 5 times in the last two years same reasons.

its rife

Fond memories Gromit

Chicken Biriyani with Suicide Sauce (in one of those metal bowls) was my favourite and poppadums of course

I don't remember getting it for free; though I recall there was some sort of 'chillied to a ridiculous extent' option that was free but inedible and only attempted by students who were very stoned or very drunk

perhaps the categories had different names at different times

My Plaza Period was 1973-76
when was yours?
