The Phillipines. When Will The West Learn?
Typical Americans. The slightest hint of a humanitarian crisis and they can't wait to get stuck in and 'save some ass'. Who elected them the world's 'ambulance service?' Did we get a vote?
What a surprise, willing lapdog, the UK is only to glad to wag it's tail along with the other western cronies.
Let's face it, this is about oil. the only reason they are sending planes, aircraft carriers and troops is to prop up their arms industry. Did they think we would be fooled into not seeing the significance of the phillipines strategic proximity to china?
What about an exit strategy? has anyone given that any thought? At this rate we could be re-building infrastructure, schools and hospitals for years to come, all at the expense of western taxpayers.
When are we in the west going to start listening to the likes of george galloway and stop meddling in the internal affairs of other countries?
When are we going to stop getting involved? Bloody Americans and their western allies!

Isn't it an everyday experience to have some wag say something tactless or offensive (and not necessarily aimed at you either) only to instantly switch to "I was only joking" when you make your anger known or take them to task.
I have even heard one such person and their buddies muttering among themselves, straight afterwards, to the effect that I "lack a sense of humour".
This was in a former workplace, so there was no escaping them, sadly.

I don't beieve it's a joke or satire. It's the typical stunt that certain people revel in. They say what they really think and back down when challenged
by saying " It's a joke/satire " " Can't you take a joke ". " It's only a wind up " etc. . By so doing they hope to put you in the wrong. We have two or three ABers who hide their true feelings in this cowardly manner.
And No ! I am not joking !

modeller - i have to speak up in doctordb's response here.
I entirely agree that there have been instances when AB'ers have been pulled up for unsavoury posts, only to whip out the 'I have a sense of humour - you don't ... card', but I do not believe that this is the case here.
doctordb's post was ironic, although in common with a few others, I did not find that immediately apparent.
However, given that we can now accept that it was posted with a sense of irony (and the uses of the concept are tricky, as I advised in my response) -in my view, it is not fair to shoot him down for deliberate offence.
So yes, there are indeed instances where people accuse people of a lack of humour for not being amused by their offensive rhetoric - but this is not one of them.

Umm OK a bit satirical. I liked the bit about Goregeous George and listening. Clearly a reference to his appearance on the Capitol and everyone refusing to transcribe his evidence. [ SO in the land of the free to listen, they couldnt because he was silenced ]
I fully expect Dr B's next effort to be a satirical parallel between an account of the latest cyclist being squished and the failure of the Canadian - Canadian I ask you - Gov of the Bank of England to raise interest rates. The satirical parallel being the failure to act in both cases in the face of evidence. He could even poke a bit of fun at Francois Hollande on the way
Modeller is not without his satirical comments in his bible class, so he can talk.

I agree with Kromovacaran.
I took it to be a mild polemic against our resident Kevin & Perry's. The ones that hate the US,the UK,the army, the police and the grown-ups in general.
Of course, Doc might have meant something different and others translated it differently. But how anyone could read it as literal post is beyond me.
Never over-estimate your readers, Doc. ;-)
