Actually, I think that AOG objects to black people defining themselves as British.
We had a very confusing conversation about this on a thread where New Judge said that just because a a dog is born in a stable, doesn't make it a horse...and it sparked off a debate about the meaning of Britishness.
Never really got an answer from AOG on that topic, but from what he wrote, and seeing as he was employing some magnificent deflections, I came to the conclusion that he agreed with the sentiment.
But I could be completely wrong. I so often am...

Can't beat you I'm afraid, you have got this discrimination thing off to a tee, funny how you as a Gay Black male person (sounds much better than just a Gay Blackman don't you think?) can see the unfairness that is going on all around us, I would have thought that if it didn't really exist you wouldn't have been able to recognise all of them.

My house is a 5 minute walk to Page Hall. When I first moved there it was a nice clean area. Over the 18 years that I lived there it has become a filthy, litter strewn ghetto. All the white and black shop keepers were bullied out of existence by continuous vandalism and bullying from Muslims wanting the premises for themselves. Yet white people are not allowed in their shops. If you try to walk in, they start screaming abuse at you, or they don't have what you want, (in my case, chick peas. A Muslim shop that doesn't sell chick peas? Yeah, right).
Huge groups of Muslim men congregate on the street so that you have to walk in the gutter to get round them. They tend to meet at The National Bank of Pakistan on the corner where they continually spit everywhere to the degree that it is safer to walk in the gutter for fear of slipping on the pavement.
The best time to visit Page Hall is a Friday afternoon when they are all at the mosque. Then you don't have to put up with the teenage and twenty-something Muslims shouting "white wh0re, white b1tch, white sl@g" at you and have to wipe their spit from your clothing. However the women are still around and I've had one elderly Muslim woman come rushing out of her house just to hurl abuse at me in Urdu. Their myriad children are always on the street and are even more abusive.
I was away from my house for only 3 weeks after my mother died. When I returned, there was £900 worth of vandalism caused to various parts of my property. I am still saving up to put the damage right. I know who did this, but can't prove it. The same Muslim family have made my life a misery since they were children. Their friends smashed £385 worth of damage out of my Dad's car, gave us a false name and address, no doubt because they are not taxed or insured, few are, and said that they would only give my Dad the money if they could do it at his house. He refused, so they tried to follow him home that night. He managed to get over a busy crossing, pull over and turn his lights out. They zoomed past him, turned round and went home. Why were they so desperate to find out where he lived? My Dad did not report this to the police as he feared that they would take it out on me.
It is the Muslim population who are racist, sexist and anti-social. They dump their litter, usually ghee cartons and old mattresses where they please.
As far as I'm concerned, the Roma can do as they please. The Muslims are now getting a taste of the medicine that they dealt out to whites and blacks who lived peacefully in that area before the Muslims arrived.

I would carry a phone in my top pocket and switch on the voice recorder and then take it to the police if someone was abusing me like that.
Gay people have stood up to bullies like that and over time, the bullies have learned to shut their foul mouths.
You really should do something about it. If what you're saying is true, then it is unacceptable.

I later gathered that Milligan was an Irish family name.
After buying one of his books, I get to find out he was born in India.
One way or another, you get the idea that place of birth is somewhat meaningless.
To use an old turn of phrase, he might have been described as "Indian but of British extraction". I suspect that the nub of AOG's argument (in the thread referred to above, which I probably haven't seen) would have been about where people were extracted from, regardless of how many generations of British birthplace their family has.
I suspect the likes of the NF and BNP are fixated on matters of this sort and wouldn't be surprised to hear they went around claiming that only white people can claim to be 'British'.
The trouble is, if you drive this argument to its (il)logical conclusion, it means that all interlopers' descendents, such as the Normans, who became the present day aristocracy, the Angles, Saxons, Jutes, Danes don't count as British. Only the Welsh (plus Cornwall), Irish and Scots can lay claim to being indigenous and, of those, only the Picts escaped invasion by the Romans.
But appeals to history as the basis for land rights are just silly, aren't they?
