http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/uk -politi cs-2498 3159
A very wealthy man is going to bank-role UKIP in the run up to the European elections next year. Does anybody think that this will lead on to victory in the 2015 General Election ?

Ironically he'd be best investing that money in supporting the Liberals
The Labour party are picking up disaffected Liberal voters 4:1 while that continues to happen the Tories are unlikely to win the next election and there won't be the referendum he craves
I hope he gives UKIP a ton of money!

in the 1920s/30s, the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei went from 3% of the vote to 37% in less than 4 years; but this was with the assistance of the wall street crash, and general dissent over the terms of the treaty of Versailles.
UKIP are not likely to emulate even that timescale, given that the British electorate never seem to raise their dissatisfaction level higher than "miffed".

tonyav, now you have got me worried ! Masons, eh? I once had a case where some irate man barged into a pub, whence he had been barred, and threatened to shoot the bar staff and anyone else there he disliked. As he appeared to be armed with an effective weapon to this end, one of the staff ran upstairs to a Freemasons' meeting to get help. Why? Because nearly everyone present was a senior police officer. They sent their most junior officer downstairs to deal with it, not deigning to go down en masse.
Those Masons, they get everywhere !
