Just to get the percentage figure of my Muslim/ immigration threads a little nearer to the 99% figure that Andy Hughes estimated, I just had to post this story. :0)

But jesting apart, this story is an example of what our young children are being brain washed into and all under threats of racism.

FredPuli43 from the letter sent,

>Refusal to allow your child to attend this trip will result in a Racial Discrimination note being attached to your child’s education record, which will remain on this file throughout their school career.<

That's rather a daft kneejerk reply there Baz! Again, I'm using Mini Boo's school as an example, but each year they do a Christmas Nativity concert, and the Asian children are just as involved, which involves weeks of planning and rehearsing.
Why the sigh Mamya ?
As I said earlier Children love to explore and the trip was to Staffordshire University not some radical place.

Agree the price is high and this headteacher though thankfully has retracted and apologised, has made a mess of this.
maybe your knee is jerking but mine isnt.

they need to dismiss this ridiculous pc ridden woman and replace her
"thankfully has retracted and apologised"

oh, so thats alright then is it ?

shows the sort of PC garbage thats in here head and what her mind set is

I await to see if she send muslims on british culture trips
Also, if she is saying students must attend then strictly speaking the school can't charge for the trip.
Viv, I sighed at the comment above me - this is about a badly handled school letter. Anyone who things teaching children of things of the broader world is wrong is I am afraid misguided, how shall we ever understand if we don't learn.
^ who thinks
baz, being unaware of the breakdown of the pupils at her school, I would guess most Muslim pupils are exposed to British culture on a daily basis.
> Anyone who things teaching children of things of the broader world is wrong is I am afraid misguided, <

i have a problem with her basically saying any parent is a liar and you need a doctors note and also the racist note that will stay on the childs file and you see no wrong with that

/// No child is being racist or to be branded racist. That nonsense comes from an angry parent. ///

Don't you read the articles before making your comments?

*** Refusal to allow your child to attend this trip will result in a Racial Discrimination note being attached to your child’s education record, which will remain on this file throughout their school career. ***

It's the child's education record, not the parent's.

Muslim pupils are exposed to British culture

aware of and adopting are two different things
Exactly, sherrardk. They can't charge for anything required, by law,in hours or curriculum, as tuition time. If this head felt compelled to write, she would have done better to say that it would be treated as non-attendance. That would have been false, since patently the school was charging, but at least it would have been less offensive, the present innuendo being that parents who do not pay are showing themselves to be racist.

The head should have not sent such a letter in any circumstances, whatever reason she gave. Better to say "We hope your child can attend" and leave it at that.
AOG, I don't interpret that as, per se, as branding the child a racist.
DrF...at no point have I said the Headteacher was right, in fact I have repeatedly said she has made a complete and utter mess of the whole thing.

Should children HAVE to attend multicultural trips - NO.

Is it beneficial that children learn multicultural things...YES.
Fred's first response is just what I would have said - cultural and religious exposure is very good for children, to help them make up their own minds and form their own options. The headmistress was wrong on several counts - in the threat in the letter itself in the first place, and secondly for describing not attendance as Racist - Islam's not a race, it's a religion followed by people of many races.
So let's hope the next trip is for muslim children to attend a Christian workshop. Cue backlash !!!
^ mamya- yes, I agree.
baz 'aware of and adopting are two different things'

Indeed they are, should we not bother then? Or hope that some education works to bring greater understanding, it has to start somewhere.
