Doesn't that tell us that there has to be far more done in regards to cycling in this country, but especially in London?

Bar the health and environmental benefits, the people or more specifically the traders of Yorkshire will see some massive huge benefits when more than 1 million people (some estimate 2 million) arrive there for the start of the most famous sporting endurence contest in the world, the Tour de France.
Question Author
TBH, I've got no problem with that DrFilth, though I'm not sure they needed that many plod on bikes to be there.

There was another rider stopped shortly after (as seen on the video) who wasn't wearing a helmet, which I'd also like to see made an offence.

Yes, but if you're honest the Tour de France scenario was not what you had in mind in the OP was it?
Question Author
It was certainly a factor Baldric!
Think long term. More cyclists, fitter population, less strain on the NHS, less emissons, increased tourism, cycling industry sees economic benefit, etc etc.

Sort out the cycling problem in London and the rest will follow.

freedom of choice , some may want you to have an airbag fitted so when he pulls out in front of you you will not hurt yourself as much , where does it stop
Question Author
Well, airbags are already being fitted to motorcycles!
Seriously, obviously not really viable on a pushiron, but everyone should have the basics i.e. lights, reflectors and a helmet IMHO.
I've posted this before but no apologies, we (cyclists) should wear them at all times:

lights yes helmets should be a choice

i have been on two wheels for many years and spent many a happy night at the reg harris stadium
Question Author
Helmet a must for me. Bar the obvious safety benefits, I have my camera and a set of lights attached to it.
You can't be too careful nor too well lit up IMHO!
the big problem is that there are to many cars on the road, to some ( notice how i have said some not all ) as soon as they get behind the wheel they own the road and have no time for other users.

i have watched your video clips and no matter if you had 20 lights on that car would still have pulled out in front of you.

as a traffic motorbike cop said to me if the driver can't see him on his bike what chance has any other rider got, he had a loon pull out in front of him, lights , dayglo the lot but the loon did not see him.

Question Author
I understand that, it's just if I do go over someone's bonnet (which I really envisaged that afternoon) I'd like to think I'd given myself the best opportunity of surviving a head injury.
No, all the lights in the world won't guard against utter stupidity, which is why you've got to give yourself every chance.
ChillDoubt can you give a link to the camera that you use ?
Question Author
Certainly, DrFilth, my pleasure:

Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation

It's pricey at the moment for some reason, I paid around £85 for mine, then it shot up in price on Amazon (always seems to do that for some reason).
Might get it cheaper on eBay, have a look around.

That is my review in the link, so at least you know what comes with the package.

Question Author
thank you for that info
