Bearing in mind that some people think we should welcome immigrants to this country and hope to learn about their customs and traditions, it seems to me that some of these customs and traditions involve having people as slaves back in their own countries. So why is there any surprise when we find out about these things?

I don't think it's so much surprise as dismay - and more so that people living adjacent to these dreadful houses didn't even suspect that anything was amiss.

Cannot understand why these people supposedly fleeing oppression or wanting a better life insist on bringing and practicing their barbaric cultures with them - there should be one law for all - not forgetting this is and always (hopefully) a christian country.
