European Army ?

So Cameron is thinking about a European Army... http://t.co/Bp1AL1WupI What would they be defending us against? aliens? We are an island for a reason and should have our own, independent Army/Navy/RAF.

Besides, who is to say that a European Army is not already here? Our government have allowed hundreds of thousands of Eastern European immigrants, predominantly male in their 20s to settle here, are they all civilians?

not a good idea, i don't know why anyone would think it is. The British forces have stood us in good stead over these centuries, no matter what some think, and i would like that to continue, as long as young people want to serve their country, we should keep our own forces.

but the eussr will do what it always does...start of small, some sort of joint deal with forces in a small way that on the face of it seems like a good idea, bit like the eussr arrest........then mission creep...bit by bit there will be more "joint" co-operation until its a case of "well we are working so closely may as well harmoise completely and give us control of your military, silly to be spending on all that kit and stuff, here have some of our nice new eusssr uniforms for all your soldiers to wear, may as well all look the same now your army is "our" army".

the first two things normally needed for a revolution are the media and the military and if they get our military they know breaking away in the future becomes even harder.

history just repeats itself, if we get swallowed up by this empire at some point there will be breakaway groups wanting out and that nearly awlays leads to freedom fighters aka terrorist groups...

the last thing the eussr wants is a military that swears allegiance to a sovereign such as ours, and they will do everythinhg in their power to get control of the former and destroy the latter

i don't know anyone who froths at the mouth, except perhaps those who have supped too much ale, however the encroachment of yet more countries into this big happy family looks set to destroy any semblance of any nationality that one might have had, and we aren't talking of that BNP type patriotism.

Since the EU has already its own standing army in the form of Eurocorps, and has had since1992, then the basis for a pan-Europe Army is a de-facto situation, and this is a theoretical solution to the reallignment of the US military towards their perceived new area of interest in the next century.
