Daily Mail Pitcherwits Tuesday 10Th December
12 Answers
I'm very new to cryptic crosswords but I'm learning fast. I've just completed today's Daily Mail Pitcherwits but, if anyone out there's got the inclination (and a copy of the Daily Mail in front of them), please could you explain some of the answers to me.
1 across. Bottle Screw. What's this got to do with 'cable'? (Picture clue)
8 across. Arena. What's this got to do with 'badly'? (Put badly near a stadium)
3 down. Rhyme. What's this got to do with 'frosty'? (Nursery poem said in a frosty way)
4 down. Wire Drawing. (Making stuff for steel hawsers). Need an explanation please

Baldric - I'd got arena from 'near a'. It was the 'badly' bit I didn't understand (but now I've learnt that it indicates an anagram). I could see where 'bottle screw' came from but I don't understand what bottle screw has to do with 'cable' . Thanks for letting me know that RIME is frost - that's a new one to me.
