It does not do the 'locals' or the immigrants any good at all if certain areas are being swamped. i.e Hospitals, Schools etc cannot cope any more because of numbers....

There is too broad a range of living conditions within 'London' to class the entire area as the worst place to live.
Parts of it may qualify but a neighbouring borough may be quite pleasant.

this thread went off the mark, i suggest some have a look at the places listed. London is often criticised by me because of over crowding, being very expensive, and other every day problems, not least the flippin traffic and noise.

shoota, areas change fortune we know that, but ours went from friendly, neighbourly, pleasant, and quite nice to live in, to down and down, which is a terrible shame.

Emmie, I did mention Bradford. Most people I know who live here will not own up to it, they always say Yorkshire.
Once in Saudi Arabia I said I was from Bradford and the Arabian gentleman I spoke to said " oh dear "

i haven't been to Bradford recently, but the word out seems to be it's gone downhill.
shoota, i don't tar everywhere in the capital, but i do know it pretty well
Southwark has some of the most gruesome housing, some of which are going to be demolished, Elephant and Castle is a bit of a hotch potch,
but the East End has seen the biggest shift in population in recent years,
not all of Kensington is pleasant, lots of down at heel housing, but
as a whole if you take it as such it has good restaurants, theatre, museums, galleries, and clubs by the bucketload.

London is for 20-40y workforce & entrepreneurs. Sensible elders move out as London needs to be transititional to maintain the hub.

no it isn't, where do you put all the families and their children as they grow up, where do you put the doctors, nurses, firemen, they aren't all in that age bracket,
some may live out of the capital, but having London as a 20-40 age range playground seems a bit daft. what about those who work in London in council offices, government buildings, some like to live here,
many have done their whole lives, sounds rather draconian to shove all the elderly, and depends on what you mean, after all 41 isn't old.

Most southerners have had a London stint but have had to move out once kids arrive & homes unaffordable. No one offered me social housing or I would still be there.

so that's why you went because no one offered you social housing, yet many recent arrivals can and do get social housing, something about needing to house families, perhaps each council is different, but suspect not. If all social housing were to go, then many would have to leave as one couldn't afford the rents that are charged, or indeed buying a property here.
where do all these over 40's decamp to, what jobs do they do, and what happens if they have children settled in schools, seems a bit far fetched wouldn't you say.

if you look at the actual make up of peoples in London now, how would you define Southerners, as many have come from far flung posts, India, Pakistan, France, USA, to name just a few.

I took that to mean it was offensive that whites were not the majority

sorry lost in translation, one ab member said, and this was a while back, but i haven't forgotten it, that he would have no problem if white people in Britain were in the minority, which i found quite offensive.
some may not, but if i had said i don't want blacks in UK then i would rightly be denounced, derided.
