It would seem from this that the indigenous population are not the only ones to show their concerns regarding mass immigration.
But having said that it would seem that those on AnswerBank who regularly criticise others for their stance against such immigration, are most likely to be new to these shores.
/// Just 37 per cent of immigrants who arrived in the UK between 2001 and 2005 share those concerns about foreigners. ///

Seems rather strange that one as controversial as this can rise to the dizzy heights of The Chairman of the Home Affairs Committee, a Minister of Europe and could become the next Speaker of the House of Commons.

Are you now analysing our posts for tell-tale signs that we are foreigners? :)
A mild form of gangplank syndrome, seen in the US 100 years ago. The vehement objections to new immigration were from established immigrants. They wanted to pull up the gangplank now they were aboard.

@Fred
//They wanted to pull up the gangplank now they were aboard.//
No loyalty to their country of birth.
No loyalty to their country of disembarkation.
100% loyalty to making money.
Just what any capitalist would want, surely?
Though, as you pointed out, any immigrants arriving behind them represent a threat to the making money part of their plan.
So, what we need is more scalpel-like precision in telling apart the racist aspects from the mere employment competitiveness aspects.
The point has been made many times before that money is sent home, so those who arrive here from the most impoverished home country get the most 'bang for their buck', when their family gets to spend it.
Given time, this should cause inflation in their country of origin, to the extent that they become more demanding and can no longer undercut the salary demands of other immigrant groups. If UK residents manage to revise their 'standards' downwards then the migrants will be having to complete with them, too.
