This is a perfect demonstration of 'The Big Society' and I can't see an issue with that.
We are repeatedly told that there is a growing underclass of benefits claimants in this country and we also recognise that there is a demographic issue of an ageing population which currently is being used as a justification for immigration.
Here is a potential solution; benefits claimants could be distributed to Tax Paying households free of charge.
I could accommodate at least two of them in my garage.
They would be very useful around the place, doing the gardening, washing the cars etc
The key point is that their usefulness would increase as we get older and would probably remove or at least delay our need for Romanian 'Carers'.

Not enough. This may be sentencing by guideline, but this case calls for exemplary sentencing. The victim had serious injuries. We could see from the tape shown on TV that injuries were inflicted with intent to cause grievous bodily harm; maximum life imprisonment. We have had cases like this before and there is reason to believe that they are not unusual.
The principal offender should have got 12 years, and let the Court of Appeal sort out the inevitable appeal. They can't interfere, as the Crown won 't appeal this sentence as too lenient, but, with 12 years they can lay down rules for cases such as this, which may well mean more that less than 7 years not being appropriate.
