Why the discrepancies, could it be that there is something being covered up for some reason?
/// A government investigation last year found no evidence that women living in the UK, but born abroad, were preferentially aborting girls. ///
/// However, our deeper statistical analysis of data from the 2011 National Census has shown widespread discrepancies in the sex ratio of children in some immigrant families, which can only be easily explained by women choosing to abort female foetuses in the hope of becoming quickly pregnant again with a boy. ///
/// The findings will reignite the debate over whether pregnant women should be legally allowed to know the sex of their babies following ultrasound scans at 13 weeks..///

The ultrasound is clearly having an effect but ultimately Nature will prevail.
Any population group with a shortage of females and disproportionate number of males will inevitably experience difficulties.
I would have thought people neurotic about population growth in certain ethnicities would be happy about this.

this says it's easier to determine if its a boy

I am one of those who are neurotic about population growth among certain ethnicities, Zeuhl (at least, that’s what I’ve been told on here and elsewhere because of my concerns about unfettered immigration) but I also have concerns about this matter.
It needs to be told as it is. There is considerable evidence to suggest that gender-selective abortion is being widely practised in the UK and that it is to be found mainly among Asian communities. It is a despicable practice over which Nature will not prevail. I’m not particularly fussed about what happens elsewhere in the world but I expect the law in the UK to be upheld and not routinely broken with the complicity of professionals such as doctors.
The principle driver for this is that many in the Asian community view females as third-rate individuals that have little or no place in their families. If they are allowed to be born they are often treated appallingly. I once spoke to an Asian friend and was asking him about his brother’s circumstances. I asked if he had any children. “No” came the reply. But hastily appended was “Oh but he’s got two daughters”
It is this basic attitude that needs addressing and changing. And allowing people to abort children because they are female does nothing to assist with that.

/Do I need to repeat what I have already asked? /
Well you haven't aog
You've changed the question
Your original OP asked /Why the discrepancies, could it be that there is something being covered up for some reason? /
So your topic wasn't a 'cover up' of the discrepancy but a 'cover up' of why they might exist.
jack's question was reasonable
your obfuscation and boorishness are not.

NJ, if it's illegal how is one to find out, if British doctors are complicit, then the rules, regulations should be tightened up. I would consider that changing attitudes is not one we should need to do, in this modern country of ours. If abortions are being carried out on gender alone then those doing the abortions should go to prison, i would have no problem with that at all.
My question about the Pope's stance on abortion raised a lot of issues,
not least that it shouldn't be for gender, eye colour or some frippery.
If Asian communities in UK don't won't more girls, then who are going to marry their sons.

/widespread discrepancies in the sex ratio of children in some immigrant families, which can only be easily explained by women choosing to abort female foetuses/
that begs the next sequential question; is there any evidence of a disproportionate number of abortions being carried out in some families and on what stated grounds?

but as in our own laws years ago on abortion proves backstreet abortions happened, so many because of archaic thinking. Now we have to convince those in these communities that it's wrong to do this, how many more things should we be doing, stop FGM, stop gender abortions, stop honour killings, stop underage marriages, seems to me that we shouldn't have to do this, this is a modern country, thinking, ways, our ways, and even if the people are born in UK, why do they think that it's right to continue on with these awful practices and get away with it.
We always seem to be educating others, until they learn, then the next group roll up with their ways of doing things, and so on, perhaps what's needed is a junior school, senior school college, university blitz on what's acceptable and legal, get to the children before they grow into adults and continue on the family traditions.
