If the Scots can have a referendum to split from England, why can't the English have one too - to split from Scotland? And why not Wales while we're at it?

The Scots and Welsh national sport is slagging us off and saying they can do better without us.

I'd vote to give them the opportunity - they get a good deal from the poor old English taxpayer.

go ahead, have one if you want one. Nothing stopping you.
indeed we do, and we will be eternally grateful for the crumbs from your table, (doffs her cap ) :)
difficult this seeing as how much we are mixed. I mean there are plenty of English / Scottish families, as Welsh/Irish, as Scottish/Irish, and plenty of people who have settled in UK from foreign ports, so they get thrown in the mix as well. I consider myself English, British, and would be sad if the UK splits, i would rather we stay as we are.
LOL ann don't doff it too much :o)

Think it's time for them to pay their own way, as well as go their own way

daily mail ? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,must be true then :)
who, Baldric, the English?

Are you having a problem understanding the article jno?
I'm having no trouble understanding the OP... which is about the English.
If anyone had watched the interview with Mark Carney it's not going to be all plain sailing if the Scots want, or get their independence, especially the issue of currency, and perhaps having to give up some of their sovereignty in exchange for a deal on retaining the pound,

I said article not OP, as you well know, the article is about how much subsidising the Scots costs the average English family,
///Scots receive a range of services free of charge, including prescriptions, long-term care for the elderly and university tuition – all of which attract hefty charges in England. Subsidising these services costs every family south of the border £420 a year///
Based on that extract alone, and now referring to the OP, I for one would vote for them to be independent.

baldric do you qualify to vote ?
don't think he does, nor do i, however there will be non Scots who live in Scotland that will,

Sadly not, but hopefully I'm allowed an opinion.
those on the electoral roll, but proffering an opinion i hope we stay together.
'' sadly not'' awe would you like to be Scottish baldric :)?

No, but I'd like to vote for Scotland to become independent.
Doesn't matter to me, as the Socialist Republic Of Lesser Scotland will be the loser in the medium to long term.
baldric, tell me this.............why do all the major political parties all want Scotland to remain part of Britain ?
Knowing how some of those south of t'border can leave fingerprints embedded in their coins might it not be a plan to save money and wait for the result of our referendum?
If the 'yes' campaign carries the day England will be independent of Scotland by default.
You can't possibly separate from Wales, what would Charlie do for a garden?
