Whether they will do anything about it is another matter.
Failure to act will likely change many pro-marketeers to anti- (me, for example).
How about you ?

hang on - this isn't about corruption in the EU as an institution but in the individual countries, so that in some of them you have to pay bribes to get medical care eg.

I shall be interested t hear what they say about corruption in the UK but I suspect that, comparatively speaking, there isn't much. Politicians and government departments may waste zillions on new computer systems, for instance, but it's mostly down to incompetence rather than corruption.
However, though we don't have to bribe anyone to get basic medical services, you do get better ones if - quite legitimately - you pay for them. I'm never sure what exactly makes that different from paying a bribe, from the point of view of the person who has to pay the money.

During the Foot and mouth outbreak, it became apparent that farmers were shipping sheep around the country so that when they were inspected for their EU subsidy, they could say they had 500 sheep, when really they had 50. They would claim 10 times the money they were due, and then ship the sheep to next farm to do the scam.
I do not recall anyone being prosecuted or jailed when the scam came to light.

"You cannot hope to bribe or twist, thank God, the British journalist. But seeing what the man will do, unbribed, there's no occasion to"
I think that is true of British society. Bribing is not the way. Knowing the right people is, getting things done by the modern equivalent of the 'old boy network'.
Still, only 12 per cent surveyed knew of a case of bribery. I am surprised the figure is that low for other countries in Europe.

Would that be the 2001 or the 2007 outbreak? even so, both during a Labour Government's term in power.

Nothing like a bit of selectivity bias to start the week off eh?
Not like in Good old MP expenses Britain eh?
//The Whitehall spending auditor has declined to sign off in full the accounts of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) for the 24th year running because of the extent of fraud and error in the benefits system. //

//What has whitehall got to do with the EU corruption? //
It's called selectivity bias (As I mentioned)
AOG is a master of it.
Everytime there is a negative story about a group you want to denegrate you highlight it, if it's about a group you support you ignore it.
It's about giving an issue a false context.
In this case I'm providing a context
A common accusation about the EU (which TTT alluded to just above my post) was that they can't get their books signed off due to supposed fraud and corruption.
I provide the context thaty the DWP have the same problem
and that by implication this is a problem to do with the difficulties in demonstrating zero fraud in such large organisations distributing money.
Imagine if insurance companies had to prove there was no fraudulent claims before audfitors would sign off their books!
So what hs Whitehall got to do with EU corruption? - it provides context that exposes the politically motivated propaganda embedded in the OP
