Trying To Reset My Password For My Halifax Online Account

I live outside the uk, and tried doing this 4 times now, inc 4 expensive phonecalls. Still no joy!! thats the problem of not having internet at home, i´ve had to use a library(with the silence rule, phonecall outside in noisy street), can you imagine me on my mobile phone, god knows how much these calls cost me, and all for nothing!!! the last call i was asked to read a security code which they were going to text me, this couldn´t be done without hanging up, they couldn´t understand this. then the final staw, when asked my final security question, scribbled on a piece of paper for easy access, i was asked the last 4 numbers of my plastic card, stupidly read the 3 digit number instead, was told to pop into a branch, there arent any here in madrid!!

I'm not sure why you can't reset your password on-line, piggy - I can do that with my (non-Halifax) bank account?

boxtops, it seems that halifax cant or refuse to recognise my password, which ive had for 2 years now, so ive tried to change it, so after all the palaver of answering the questions, they insist on you making a phonecall.

why don't you get a bank account in the country you live in? that would mean you could go into a branch. Is your halifax account a non-uk resident account? i wondered if they have special facilities if you have one of them?

black_cat, i have a spanish bank account. But need a uk bank account, as most of my investments are in it, isa´s, current acc etc.
boxtops.are you saying your bank is better than halifax, if thats the case, maybe i should consider changing banks to yours.

If your a non-resident then you cannot have a UK Resident Bank a/c or UK ISA's either.

I think you will have to wait until you return to the UK and visit a branch. Probably changing your password from a foreign isp set off the alarm bells at Halifaxs online security servers.
