I'm sure this is going to be another OJ Simpson scenario, I think he's guilty although we may never know the motive. Let's face it, were he a walking unknown he'd have been in remand ever since it happened.

Because it is too intrusive? Privacy issues on behalf of defendants, witnesses, etc? They do not televise trials routinely in SA, nor do we over here, come to that.

I think the article mentioned live audio commentary throughout, which would be something of a first.

just him, not the other witnesses, his testimony alone will not be televised.

the way it was reported on the radio was he was alone in not being televised.

The double amputee, known as the Blade Runner, is accused of killing Ms Steenkamp in a shooting at his home in Pretoria, South Africa, last February.

In his ruling on Tuesday, Judge Dunstan Mlambo said cameras would be able to "obtain a video and audio recording of the permitted portions" - the opening arguments, prosecution witnesses, closing arguments, the verdict and sentencing.

However, cameras will not be able to film the 26-year-old Olympic champion, defence witnesses or anyone else who objects to being on camera.

I heard on the lunchtime BBC News that the judge had said if a witness doesn't want to appear on camera he/she has to write to him and let him know. Impression given was that this request would be granted.

its strange all round, because on this mornings radio news, it gave the impression that it would be completely televised except for Pistorius, which is obviously not the case.
