I suspect some half wit thought he/she was being funny rather than a direct homophobic attack though Chilled. Defacing Stephen Lawrences plaque is a whole different ball game. The poor lad was just an innocent trying to catch a bus.

This isn't the first time, but still absolutely sickening just as all these wanton act of vandalism are.

What is interesting regarding this report is the fact that the report needed to repeatedly report that Stephen Lawrence was attacked and murdered by a gang of white youths, yet fail to mention the colour of the two persons that have been arrested over this vandalism.

This from the Daily Mail reader's comments a few years ago.

I would have though that placing any plaque, memorial or otherwise at ground level, would attract attention from those with nothing better to do than to create damage, there is not enough respect left these days.

You're right, Emmie. It looks as though he was sentenced at a time when the guidebook on sentencing had been torn up. I remember a young woman receiving a custodial for stealing a bottle of water and another for stealing one shoe.
