I have just watched a documentary about Mermaid, quite compelling footage or was it April 1st prank?

Bigfoot, they have been looking for it for so many years, lots of sightings etc. but never a dead one found or any suspicious bones.

More nonsense?

Personally, I think they are both nonsense, what say you?

Assuming this post isn't a hoax - you never know these days - why would they waste money making a documentary about such a subject, what would be the point?

No wonder my tv is at the back of a cupboard on its own.

Whenever documentaries are made about Bigfoot, UFO’s, ghosts, the Bermuda Triangle, etc., you can guarantee that nothing astonishing will be revealed. If, as the result of any serious study, anything newsworthy came to light, the newspapers would have reported it long before the documentary was made.

I can't see why a merman/maid would evolve so I would rule them out. I think there is a view that sailors seeing manatees /dugongs suckling their young on the surface gave rise to the legend. Now you might say that no-one could mistake manatees /dugongs for a woman but I've been clubbing in St Helens and I wouldn't be that sure.
Northern apes, bigfoot, yeti etc. still a possibility i think

Mark Evans (the vet) did a documentary a few weeks ago on channel 5 about Big Foot. It turns out it was just exceptionally large rather hirsute folk in Russia.
