I'm baffled why anyone who resigns should get severance pay.

Remember the bankers who were inept and still retained their huge pensions too?

Utter madness but no doubt it'll be in their employment contract or some such.

Severance pay !, thats a new one on me as well.
lol NJ, do you know, I honestly would not be surprised if such a charity existed.

It probably does in the MPs' minds.
I'm sure that the charity funds will get redistributed in the commons bar.
17 months would be correct , not 17k.
Love it, ayg.
lol ayg
Is she still a mp ?
arrogant to the end..................and another thing, her clothing is not from primark,,,,,,,,,,,
I think she's still an MP weecalf and will probably be on the back benches, if she is elected again by her constituents is another matter. She has resigned as Minister of Culture she held the position as Secretary of State.

Too right anneasquith that pink suit she wore yesterday wasn't up to Primark standards. lol
Not a great resigning should have thrown the dummy out and left politics all together .Go for it girl show them .
she may have gone but any Tory who dares to look pleased about it is going to be in big trouble

Did she get that shawl/scarf thing from Yasser Arafat?
before he pegged it you mean, hardly, then again she has finally gone, wouldn't it be nice if others do the same, then perhaps we can have those who are left do the country proud, and stop bludging off the bloody taxpayers.
In theory, emmie, it's much less likely to happen now as there are much tighter rules and claims can't be made for mortgage interest. The expenses of Ms Miller go back quite a few years to before the time of the new rules. Having said that, the attitude of Ms Miller, the apparent reluctance of the PM to criticise her and the decision of the parliamentary committee to waive most of the repayments, gives the voters the impression that there is still an arrogance among MPS about this aissue
i was watching a news item last evening, and members of the public were interviewed, the reporter asked them what they thought when he said the word politician, most said expenses, cheats, and more, nothing positive at all, then added that not much has changed as they had the same sort of poll for want of a better word, during the war, early 1940 and the same words were levied - perhaps its our perception that they do little, but feather their own nests. They isn't necessarily the case, but then its a hard thing to fight against, like thinking of all legal eagles as shysters.
What order of the hit list ,would we put these people .Who leech of the public.
1 energy suppliers, Gas Electric etc
2 MPs,
3Bankers
4Insurance companies.
A few questions Farrier just so I can understand your views:
1. Why hasn't any other major new company come in and tried to shake up the market
3, Bankers- which bankers do you mean? Bank counter staff? Branch managers? Call centres?
4 Insurance companies. It's a very competitive market isn't it?
