Sis teaches remedial teens & loves her pupils and work. Shes only 5ft against her testerone, massive 6footer lads. Even her OH fears collecting her from school with her 'thugs' errr pupils threatening persona surrounding her. Woe betide those crossing her ;)

But back to the story...this should never happen to a teacher. Thank God we live in a country where this story is relatively rare. I can't think what kind of pain the family are going through, and the shock the rest of the kids are feeling tonight.

I have just swapped notes with my son about the violence he has witnessed at the same school I attended some years ago. I win hands down.

Nothing can excuse his behaviour, but we didn't have 'mitigating circumstances' such as finding oneself bi-polar (whatever that is), or had a poor family upbringing and such nonsense that they are reeling out nowadays. We were all poor then but we had respect and didn't fancy the treatment from the police or our parents if we misbehaved. It's strange how now parents cannot whack at bit of sense into their kids in case it makes them violent and the police have to treat criminals with kid gloves. And yet we have one running about with a knife at school and murdering someone.

Yes the teachers certainly lead by example, Tora.
But actually I asked my son if he had witnessed any violence towards teachers from his fellow pupils, the answer was 'none at all'

It DID happen in my day, I was present during 3 very nasty attacks on teachers. (One of them actually deserved a good kicking, he was an animal)

Not understanding something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist though. Society is slowly becoming less violent. That has to start with the parents, surely?
