Mothers have been breast feeding since time immemorial, is this yet one more 'over the top action' all in the name of today's 'women's rights'?l

People who think that Breastfeeding in public is disgusting disgust me. Forza the protesters.
Simple. Women should have the legal right so to do and those who behave like this should face criminal proceedings.
Why is it necessary to breastfeed your child al fresco?

never was.......why is it now?

OR....is it all to do with the modern concept...."demand feeding?"

I don't find it disgusting, but totally unnecessary and is all about "exhibitionism."

Terrible. Breast feeding in public should be compulsory. And if a lady has no babe she should just get them out in support of her sisters !

Never mind the old fashion folk who get upset, they aren't important like the mothers.
I'm all for women breastfeeding outside (although I bottlefed my children); but is it really necessary to breastfeed in a sports shop (especially one that is jammed packed full of stock, that you can hardly manoeuvre round without a pram in tow)? Surely another five minutes to find a coffee shop would have been more comfortable for both mother and baby?
Of the countries I have stayed in for any length of time (including Saudi Arabia), the UK is the only one where I am aware of breastfeeding getting anyone agitated (although a baby was being breastfed in public in Saudi surprised me). Elsewhere, so far as I am aware, it is regarded as entirely natural and totally acceptable. Women everywhere seem to achieve this quite discretely and do not "whip them out" so to speak - I think I have very rarely if ever seen a nipple that way. But then the UK is not at all the child friendliest of countries. However, when it comes to dogs......
Don't know where you do your shopping, Karl, but i've yet to see a dog being breastfed in any of the shops i frequent:-)

Just for info,

The Equality Act 2010 has made it illegal for anyone to ask a breastfeeding woman to leave a public place such as a cafe, shop or public transport.
Hang on, so a load of ladies when into sports direct and lobbed out a thrupney? Struggling to see the downside there!
Old_Geezer's post is not only the funniest I've read on AB this year...it might be the funniest I've read on AB ever.
Just wishful thinking sigh

Brilliant.
Totally agree with sqad, women never breast fed in public years ago. Why is it "anything goes" now and everyone else has to accept it whether we like it or not and I don't just mean this subject!
Jenipeni, breastfed babies need feeding fairly constantly, as it's digested much faster than formula. None of mine ever took a bottle. I fed them anywhere and everywhere necessary. No-one ever noticed.
There are ways to do it as to not cause offence. I understand there is some kind of 'discretion cloth' that can be used...?

Out of politeness, if I was a nursing mother, I would probably use that, rather than slapping it out for all to see.

I would not, however expect to have to go into the loos (in a restaurant for example) to feed my baby. That's just grim.
Odd though isn't it...

Breasts being used for the purpose they were designed for = shock horror.

Breasts exposed on page three of our biggest selling daily newspaper = phwoar.
Even that's not necessary, sp. Just a loose t-shirt if you're out and about. It couldn't be easier.
