Have not seen any comment on this one today.Firstly may I say I cannot stand Jeremy Clarkson but have we become that thin skinned that a nursery rhyme we have taught children for generations causes offence.Guy Gibson's dog would be turning in his grave.

Incidentally, I would challenge the supposition that 'black people use the 'N' word.

A very small minority do.

We should be wary of extrapolating this to the conclusion that all black people are okay with the word.

Some qualification is required.

The Guardian article finishes with the fact that he is on his final warning with the BBC. That would be the reason for his apology then. Even Clarkson would not kill the golden goose, surely?

He is apologising because it appears that he says it, he denies actually saying it.

I have listened to it a few times and I cannot hear him say it.
