Where The Hell Are The Romanians And Bulgarians???
Remember at the end of last year, when several news sources warned of the hundreds of thousands of Romanians and Bulgarians all champing at the bit to come over to the UK from January 1st?
What happened?

From the Office of National Statistics:
"The labour force survey figures show that there were 122,000 Romanians and Bulgarians nationals working in Britain in March this year – a fall from 125,000 in December just before the last seven-year transitional controls were lifted on the new EU members on 1 January."

"As I have said before quoting net migration figures is disingenuous. The majority of those leaving tend to be in the higher skilled and/or higher wealth brackets"
I think some supporting evidence would be helpful here.
Not saying that you're assumption is wrong, but with so many semi-skilled moving to and from the country...the figures may be a little skewed.

the principle of quantitive research and analysis is that there always aspects where observers are surprised (or even sceptical) about the results.
That's the whole point of it. A systematic calculation with a reasonable margin of error is going to be a better and more useful basis for decision making than an individual's subjective estimate or anecdote-based perception.
However, it is human nature to sometimes look at the evidence and still say 'I don't believe it'

NJ, so it is, and anyone who says so is almost immediately branded a racist, xenophobic, transplanting one lot of people's for another. And as i said before British aren't going to Bulgaria, Romania to work, because the pay is poor, its why they want to come here. Better off British are either retiring to Australia, France, Spain, and they have to do so with sufficient funds, as no one is going to hand you anything, likely selling homes, property, business in UK to fund a retirement overseas, if for work they have to be well qualified as most of these countries aren't looking for cheap labour, they have enough of their own
so you think its only immigrants who work in care homes, going on some of the care we have seen and that includes hospitals, i am not sure we shouldn't all be concerned about who looks after the elderly, those with long term health issues, and dementia, those who can't be looked after by family, irrespective of where they come from. Family members have worked in residential homes, respite care homes, and have said that there is a problem because the care homes don't pay high wages, so if you pay minimum wage, and employ largely unskilled workers, what kind of care will you receive, this will apply to native born or immigrant.
highly skilled emigres aren't likely to want to work in care homes, they want the type of jobs they trained for back home, however they may well be in short supply or that they don't pay enough. hence they move abroad to find that type of work, and if as some think this is a land of golden opportunities, then they are sadly mistaken. They may take on lesser work than their degree or skills allow, however they can still earn better money here than back home.
these countries must realise they are losing good people, and strive to keep them, otherwise all that happens is you educate your young then they fly away, leaving a skill shortage

Yep...I know I've done it myself with stats from the ONS, but at the end of the day, you've gotta trust them because as far as I can tell, they have no political axe to grind.
Still, the most curious stats are the ones relating to the first quarter of this year.
We were led to believe that there would be a flood of new migrants from Romanian and Bulgaria, and it doesn't seem to have happened.

there was a dilapidated Rumanian coach full of young men 55 maybe and others on foot and in cars, I can't imagine many have returned, and if that is the pattern which I believe it is
In other words you have no evidence whatever and you're just going by your own prejudices. No wonder you criticise sp1814, who dares to quote statistics.

> So why is the number of jobless falling? <
this has been explained before they have kicked people off benefits and also cut some benefits so it is not worth claiming

What anyone can see with their own eyes outweighs your 'statistics'.
'Evidence' is what you can see on every channel-crossing, it isn't 'prejudice'. Why are there so many foreigners on the inbound ferries and so few on the outbound, - don't you get it? When did you last travel on one?
