I am not bothered that the Games are to be held in a muslim country. Or an Arab one. But I think FIAs rules should stipulate that the World Cup should be held in a democratic Country.

We should not be supporting despotic regimes and absolute monarchs.

Well I suppose holding it in a Muslim country may stop the drunken fighting, but I wonder if the reason they are behind is because they are so busy building extra Jails and gathering stones for the adulterers.

I cannot see it being cancelled, but in hindsight FIFA have made a big mistake in awarding Qatar the WC.
The USA, Australia, South Korea and Japan, were all better candidates to host the Tournament.

currently less than one third of premiership players would be eligible for England call-up. notwithstanding the Qatar tournament is 8 years away, I wouldn't expect the proportion to change. The premier league will hardly notice.

Qatar shouldn't have got it but now that it has I think it might not be so bad. There wil be a winter break for the PL and a Christmas World Cup means a welcome antidote to the usual Noel nonsense. And Qatar being so small means at łeast it will be easier for visiting fans to get to different games.
