Legally how many children under 3 years can 1 child minder look after by herself in her home?
A child minder has moved into a rented house near me and some days she has 5 children of whom 1 is a baby, 3 cannot walk far and 1 is about 21/2 and I just thought that it was a bit much.

From the relevant regulations:
"For every six children for whom the childminding is provided, at least one person providing care must have attained the age of 18":
http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/sites/default/files/documents/registration-forms-and-guides/r/Requirements%20for%20the%20Childcare%20Register%20childminders%20and%20home%20childcarers.pdf
So, as I read it, a single adult childminder can have up to 6 children in her care.

Many thanks Buenchico. Quite a few neighbours have questioned it.
I thought it depended on the children's age. Two babies under one, six under five, etc.
Must be absolutely horrendous. 5 children in a house near you. Arrrrgh !!!
Is it a noise issue Kazal?
