Should England Be Aggrieved Over The Jos Buttler Runout?
In the latest ODI between England and Sri Lanka, England were aggrieved when Sri Lanka bowler Sachithra Senanayake ran out England's Jos Buttler at the non-striker's end after straying out of his crease. Although perfectly legal was it against the spirit of the game? Apparently Buttler was warned by the bowler once possibly twice in that match and allegedly in the previous game too of possibly gaining an unfair advantage when going for a run.
Before England go on the moral high ground it should be noted that earlier in the match Joe Root stood his ground when he knew full well he had been caught behind by Kumar Sangakkara off a huge glove.
He decided to stand there and hope he got away with it, eventually being given out following a successful Sri Lanka review.
So in that context should England put up and shut up?

What Sachithra Senanayake did was within the rules, what Jos Buttler did was try to gain an unfair advantage and what Joe Root did was cheating, and I'm an England supporter! This 'creeping' down the pitch has got to be stopped, its just like in football when players take a corner from outside the corner angle, it has got to stop somewhere otherwise players will be halfway down the pitch before long!

As I've said elsewhere on the net it's galling hearing Michael Vaughan pontificate about 'not in the spirit of the game'.
From the man who ordered his bowlers NOT to enquire after the wellbeing of Ponting after he was hit in the face by Harmison, who had drawn blood.
Pretty much every fast bowler asks about the batsman when he can see that physical injury has been inflicted.
Buttler was warned twice, failed to heed those warnings and Sri Lanka were well within their rights to uphold the appeal.

Thanks for that,Chill, Steve Harmison still has a lot of regret over that incident,a proper Sportsman, not like the sanctimonious Vaughan, every time he is on TV I could put my foot through it. I am going to Lords on June 14th on a Corporate Trip, part of the Package is an ex -Test Cricketer will be your Host, no prizes for guessing who I hope it's not!!
Vaughan is becoming VERY irritating - compare and contrast with Phil Tufnell who (despite the dopy image) is turning out to be an astute and thoughtful commentator.
And it seems the irritating 'Swanny' is apparently going to bring his insights (yeah right) to TMS this summer - a very bad idea I'm afraid - "Vaughan Lite" is what we don't need.

England are not above controversial dismissals themselves

that one was very wrong (imho). This one wasn't. Buttler was warned (legally, he didn't have to be), so I think the spirit of cricket was more than complied with.
