This morning on the Andrew Marr show, Normal Tebitt said that ‘the culture at the time was to protect the establishment’ – referring to a possible cover-up of child sex abuse during the 1980s.

If I was Andrew Marr, I would have asked when did this culture come to an end?

Not so long ago, I made allegations of serious wrong doing by a number of persons in power; I can tell you that my claims were bushed off without investigation. I know that one of those I accused, openly stated in their defence that I had accused them of lying (which they had done, in writing) – knowing that his peers would not believe such a claim from me.

Having stared at the screen when Ld brittan featured, I shouted at the tee-vee when Tebbit talked of his own actions -
he was the establishment and so he was aware at the time

and at THAT time his persona was Mrs Thatcher's axeman.

and he CERTAINLY wasnt going around saying - when you do wrong you go to prison, and when we do wrong - we get let off and go on doing it.

Hymie - I sympathise - I showed a judge that one of the lawyers in front of him was lying [ that is was aware what he was saying was untrue ] and all he [judgy-baby] said was he was so wise that he could disregard that bit AND..... the answer was the same !

Both parties havent done that well after fifteen years I have to admit....

I dont think Tebbit is gonna "clarify" - " oh I said establishment cover up and I meant system cover up - one is very very bad and one is OK: we did the OK one, OK ? " Nope I doan think he gonna say that

I think the "establishment protecting its own" must have begun to crumble when the Police were found to be institutionally racist over the Lawrence case. They could no longer bluster and cover up, and gradually society realised that far too much bluster and cover-up had been going on for far too long. Like forever.
