People like him have always been around. I have a vague recollection of a documentary about a murderer who killed his victims and then fried them up on the stove. The trouble is that the internet now makes it easier for these people to find victims and to keep in touch with others of the same interests which normalises the behaviour in their minds. He does look a bit of a weirdo though..
One eats meat on a daily basis, unless of course one is a vegetarian and human flesh is not needed as there are plenty of alternatives.....animals, game etc.
However human flesh has been and still is consumed for many other reasons, custom, sexual heightening and of coarse necessity.
Remember the Uruguayan College team that was involved in an aircrash in the Andes and survived by eating the flesh of their dead mates.............necessity.
Some tribes (I cannot remember which) indulge in cannibalism as a custom.
Now sexual excitation by making love and eating your lover is commonplace in the animal world e.g Siamese Fighting Fish and is certainly well documented in the human race.
Sexual excitation surrounding death is well documented.
In the 50's and 60's partial gastrectomy was a common procedure for gastric ulcers and the stomach was divided by electrocautery..........the smell form the " burning stomach" was ...divine.
